Parece haber un gran consenso a la hora de medir la relaci\u00f3n entre las plantaciones comerciales y cambio clim\u00e1tico<\/strong>. En general, el aumento de la emisi\u00f3n de gases de efecto invernadero, consecuencia del desarrollo industrial, como el di\u00f3xido de carbono, ha comenzado a impactar las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas del planeta, llevando a que el calentamiento global sea considerado actualmente uno de los principales problemas de nuestras sociedades. En particular, cuando se trata de hablar de cambio clim\u00e1tico<\/strong>, existen principalmente dos formas de afrontarlo, por un lado, manteniendo el carbono en su estado s\u00f3lido, y por otro capt\u00e1ndolo, es en este \u00faltimo donde las plantaciones comerciales entran a jugar un papel crucial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En el primer caso, una reducci\u00f3n en el uso de combustibles f\u00f3siles parece ser la mejor alternativa, ya que seg\u00fan un estudio realizado por IPCC (2014), 65% de emisiones de carbono provienen de su uso. Sin embargo, se espera que el crecimiento en el tama\u00f1o de las emisiones anuales contin\u00fae aumentando a niveles similares al actual para 2030. En este contexto, el segundo caso viene a jugar un papel fundamental, donde la ciencia que sustenta este proceso podr\u00eda resumirse bastante simplemente. Los \u00e1rboles capturan di\u00f3xido de carbono del medio ambiente y lo transforman en madera, y este proceso se acelera cuando se analizan bosques de r\u00e1pido crecimiento como las plantaciones comerciales. Seg\u00fan Myers et al (1991), una hect\u00e1rea de Pino o Eucalipto en una regi\u00f3n tropical tiene capacidad para capturar alrededor de 10 toneladas de di\u00f3xido de carbono por a\u00f1o, o el equivalente al carbono emitido por 7,2 autom\u00f3viles de un ciudadano promedio de Bogot\u00e1. En consecuencia, parece que una forma eficaz de mitigar cambio clim\u00e1tico<\/strong> es la proliferaci\u00f3n de plantaciones comerciales de r\u00e1pido crecimiento en todo el planeta, sin embargo, esta opci\u00f3n por s\u00ed sola no es suficiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
